You should obtain excellent results by following a few simple instructions.

MELTING We do recommend pre-alloying all alloy and fine gold with aggressive stirring & fluxing to assure a uniform mixture.

Step : 1 Pre- Alloying (Fine gold + alloy) Temperature 1010° – 1040° C

1850° – 1910° F

Step : 2 Casting Temperature for 9 K – 10 K Alloyed Grain 970° – 990° C

1780° – 1815° F

Casting Temperature for 14 K Alloyed Grain 950° – 970° C

1745° – 1780° F

COMPOSITON 11% ZINC, 30.0 % SILVER, 59.0 % OXYGEN FREE COPPER

HARDNESS 22K 100 – 105 Hv – As Cast.

UNITED’S # HT 524 ALLOY is designed for 18K- 23 K yellow gold casting, which produces a Standard Yellow color.

FLASK TEMPERATURE For Vacuum casting 676° – 730° C

Use higher range for 18K-23K 1250° – 1350° F

For Centrifugal casting 565° – 730° C

Use higher range for 18K-23K 1050° – 1350° F

United # HT 524 standard yellow alloy is formulated for 9K – 23 K Standard Yellow Gold Casting and sheet, plate & wire fabrication giving a Rich Yellow color. Alloy # HT 524 can be used for casting also.

MELTING The # HT 524 Standard Yellow Alloy and fine gold should be melted together in a clean crucible. Put alloy in the bottom of the crucible and fine gold on top. Initial melting temperature should be 950ºC – 980º C for 9K – 14K, and 1100ºC – 1120º C for 18K – 23K. Drop temperature somewhat before pouring as listed below. Boric acid flux may be used to keep the metal clean during the melting process. The metal should be mixed well with a stirring rod before pouring to assure a good mix.

POURING TEMP 9K – 14K – 950ºC – 980º C 1742º F – 1796º F)

FOR INGOTS 18K – 23K – 1100º – 1110º C (2012º F – 2030º F)
